By Ir Brian CHENG
Pacific Wing Shing is a manufacturing company established in 1983 and specialised in air ventilation products with factory scale of over 230 well-trained employees. Besides, its factory area occupies around 30,000 sq ft and 85,000 sq ft in Hong Kong and Dongguan respectively. A technical visit to the Dongguan factory of Pacific Wing Shing Air Duct Co Ltd jointly organised by the BS Division, ASHRAE (HK Chapter) and CIBSE (HK Branch) was held on 28 February 2009.
The visit was well received by 35 members from the three co-organising institutions. At the beginning, a brief introduction of company background, various types of manufacturing processes and different air ventilation products was given. Mr C M Wong, Director of Pacific Wing Shing, also shared his valuable experiences on how to achieve the just-in-time manufacturing process so that each of their specialised departments can provide professional services to satisfy customers' needs and ensures the products remains in high quality.
After that, we had a chance to take a look at the production lines and various manufacturing machines such as Plasma CNC cutter, spiro stitch welding machines, automatic flange producer and rectangular duct closure system etc. During the visit, members learned more about the manufacturing of rectangular duct, oval duct, air diffuser, dampers etc and acquired knowledge on the key factors that would affect the quality of these air ventilation products. Moreover, interactive discussions were carried out and all of them enjoyed this short visit.
On behalf of the BS Division and participants, we would like to give our sincere thanks to Mr Wong and Mr C K Lam, Directors of Pacific Wing Shing, for their arrangement and support to the visit; and also Mr C W Lee, Sales Manager of Pacific Wing Shing, for their logistic arrangement and devoted participation to make the event a success.
