New Members Reception The second New Members Reception of the Session was successfully held on 23 April 2010 at the Hong Kong Club. More than 200 members with their families and friends attended. The Reception started with a warm welcome by the President, Ir Dr Andrew K C Chan. During the occasion, a certificate presentation ceremony was held for Fellows and Members who have been admitted to the HKIE recently. Taking this opportunity, the HKIE Members' Guide was launched. This Guide is developed to give members a better understanding of the Institution. On the same day, the Institution also published the names of the newly admitted members together with a brief introduction of the HKIE in a local newspaper to enhance the visibility of the Institution and the status of its members as well as to heighten the prestige of the qualification. Courtesy visit - Wanchai and Central and Western District Councils With an aim to foster a closer relationship with the District Councils and to strengthen ties between the HKIE and the local community, the Public Relations Committee (PRC) invited members of the Wanchai District Council (WCDC) to visit the Institution on 23 March 2010. On the other hand, a courtesy visit to the Central and Western District Council (CWDC) was arranged on 8 April 2010. Participants exchanged views on subjects of mutual interests on the occasion and members found the visits rewarding. The two visits were considered a success by the PRC and the HKIE will establish closer links with other District Councils in the next Session.
