Programme highlights
As an engineer, we can provide a lot of professional knowledge to serve the community as a volunteer or a consultant to some charity organisation on some projects in Hong Kong, the PRC or overseas. This seminar is about the work of a Hong Kong based charity organisation, Christian Action (CA), providing humanitarian services to target groups without any government support and also serving a wide range of multi-national clients eg Africans, South Asians Tibetans, Mongolians, etc of various religions such as Muslims, Buddhists, Hindus, etc. CA also deeply involves in the poverty alleviation work in Qinghai and have been co-managing children's homes with the provincial local government for 13 years. Our recent project in Qinghai is involved in the rebuilding of Yushu.

Speakers
Ms Dora Kwan is a Senior Manager of the Development & Advancement Department of CA. She has been working for this organisation for over 15 years. She has worked for different projects in CA including employees retraining scheme, Corporate Communications Department and now Development & Advancement Department.

In view of the need of value-for-money and sustainable facilities, the Building Services Operation and Maintenance Executives Society (BSOMES) with the supports from three other co-organisers in the GPRD Region and 26 supporting organisations in Hong Kong, organised this conference which is the first of its kind focusing on building operation and maintenance. With the main theme of "sustainable and value-for-money built facilities", this conference will embrace the following sub-themes:
