Notes to participants

1. All members of the Institution are encouraged to attend the dinner and to invite guests to attend. Members are advised that this is an occasion upon which invitations should be extended to those engaged in engineering or have substantial dealings with engineers and leaders of other learned professions.

2. The venue is with a maximum seating capacity of 1,200 and each (circular) table will be for 12 persons. If a booking is made for fewer than 12 persons, the Institution reserves the right to place additional persons at such tables or to charge for vacant places.

3. If you book a table (12 persons) or more, a set of invitation cards and place cards as well as a wine list with an order form, will be sent to you upon receipt of the full payment.

4. No refund will be made once the booking has been confirmed. The Institution reserves the right to decide on the final allocation of tables and seatings. All payment should be settled before 2 March 2010. After this date, the Institution reserves the right to release the tables/seats reserved to other interested parties.

The Development Bureau of the HKSAR Government would adopt a wider use of Dispute Resolution Advisors (DRA) in public works contracts. The speakers will give an introduction to the DRA process and share their experiences on the roles/functions of DRAs. Engineers' Charity Soccer Cup for the HKIE Project Sichuan Trust Fund

Waste management has become one of the key issues of the modern world, an international issue that is intensified by the volume and complexity of domestic and industrial wastes. There is need for more research on current disposal methods such as landfills, incineration and chemical treatment, recycling, waste minimisation, clean technologies, waste monitoring, public and corporate awareness and general education. With the theme of "construction waster recycling and civil engineering sustainable development", this conference aims to advance the understanding and application of civil engineering with respect to sustainable development in general, and environmental and waste engineering and management in particular, and to promote the exchange of technical, scientific and professional knowledge on waste engineering and management to better serve the interests and welfare of the public. The deadline of submission of abstract is 28 February 2010.
