The captioned workshop was held by the BD Division on 17 September 2021 with the assistance of Mr Ho Yuk-chi, the Managing Director of Wiseville (Asia Pacific Limited). The workshop aimed to encourage social interaction and communication between members while at the same time providing them with an opportunity to learn and appreciate wine culture.
The workshop kicked off with an opening speech by Ir Anthony Kwong, the Chairman of the BD Division, who shared his and the Division’s vision for Session 2021/2022. After that, Ir Tony Za, the Hon Secretary of the BD Division, briefed the group on the background of the wine cellar and purpose of the workshop.
Mr Ho, then shared the basis of wine appreciation and talked about wine history and the culture of Hungarian wines. He also gave an interesting introduction to a fine selection of wines, including a bottle of champagne, two bottles of white wine, three bottles of red wine and a bottle of sweet Tokaji dessert wine at the end as a special recommendation.
Mr Ho also shared a technique for selecting and matching foods, like different meats and cheeses with various wines. He then introduced the Tokaji wine and explained that the number of “puttonyos” on a bottle of Tokaji, represented the level of sweetness of the wine and that there was a direct correlation between the sweetness and the price of a Tokaji.
The evening ended with a speech by Ir Anthony Kwong who presented a souvenir in gratitude to Mr Ho for his sharing.
The event was a great success and created a platform for members to enhance their appreciation of wine and establish a bond with other members. All the participants enjoyed building up the team in this harmonious atmosphere.
