Part 1 of the report on the captioned Summit, published in the Journal’s June 2023 issue, ended with a description of the sharing by Ir Dr The Hon Lo Wai-kwok, Legislative Council Member (Functional Constituency - Engineering).

Subsequently, Ir Prof C C Chan, Academician of the Chinese Academy of Engineering, delivered his presentation, and the audience was impressed by 5G-related issues discussed. Then, Ir Aaron Bok, President for Session 2022/2023, expressed his appreciation for the theme (Proud to be CA Engineers) as it echoed his Presidential Theme “Proud to be Engineers”. Vice President Ir Alice Chow presented the fifth Keynote Address. Her concern for the profession was deeply appreciated by members and potential members.

A short break was arranged after the presentation of souvenirs to the keynote speakers and speakers in the morning session.

Dr Winnie Tang, JP, Founder and Chairman of Esri China (HK) Ltd., presented the first paper. Those present learned a lot from her interesting discussion on “Smart Technologies Driving Sustainable Smart Cities”.

Then, Ir Antonio Chan, Deputy Managing Director of REC Engineering Co. Ltd., expressed his views on “Application of AI Technologies in Smart & Green Buildings” and scrutinised a practical case. The feedback was as amazing as it was for the paper of Dr Tang.

Ir Frankie Lai, Chief Engineer of the Electrical and Mechanical Services Department, delivered his views on “Adopting AI Energy Optimisation Solution for Chiller Plants” and examined a practical case.

Next, Dr Russell Chan, Chief Technical Officer and Co-founder of Gense Technologies Ltd. at Cyberport, summarised his ideas on “Portable Biomedical Imaging Devices with Automatic Processing for Primary Healthcare”. He quoted some cases during his delivery and received a warm response.

At this point, we should express our sincere thanks to Ir Prof Philips Wang, Dean of the School of Science and Technology at Hong Kong Metropolitan University and a co-organiser, for picking up the tab for the VIP lunch.

Ir Prof Wang kicked off the afternoon session with a welcoming address and President Ir Dr Barry Lee delivered the opening address. Ir Dr Lee expressed his interest in the counterparts from the Greater Bay Area as they could echo the theme of the panel discussion, namely, 科普、科技、 自動化、創新、大灣區、中國夢。
