A new Mass Rapid Transit (MRT) line is planned for construction in New Taipei area, with the first phase connecting Xizhi to Donghu (Xidong Line). The project, awarded in March 2025 to the Gamuda / MiTAC / Dong Pi JV as a design-and-build turnkey contract covering both civil and systems works, is expected to be completed within seven years. It includes 5.78 km of viaducts, a depot, six above-ground stations, and comprehensive system works.

Key Direction (Taiwan) Co Ltd (KD-TW) has been appointed by Gamuda as the System Engineering (SE) Consultant for this turnkey project, providing management services across System Integration, Verification and Validation (V&V), Requirements Management, Interface Management, System Assurance, Software Assurance, Electromagnetic Compatibility (EMC) Management, Configuration Management, Cyber Security, Human Factors, Project Scheduling, and Operations and Maintenance inputs for the entire project.

Since February 2025, KD-TW has established a team of local Taiwanese railway engineers and managers, together with specialist sub-consultants, to execute the works. This is the first turnkey railway project of the company in Taiwan in which a dedicated, comprehensive system engineering team has been established, aiming to deliver the Project on time and within budget while meeting the high-quality standards required.
