In the early hours of 8 December, with the gracious support and trust of fellow engineers, I was honoured to be officially elected as the Member-elect of the Legislative Council (Engineering Functional Constituency). I am deeply grateful for the confidence placed in me by the engineering community. I would also like to extend my sincere gratitude to Ir Dr Wilton Fok Wai Tung for his dedicated efforts and commitment throughout the election process.

My journey towards this role formally began on 1 November 2025, when I submitted my nomination for the Engineering Functional Constituency of the Legislative Council. This important step was made possible with the strong support and encouragement of the former representative Ir Dr Lo Wai Kwok, as well as Ir Wai Chi Sing and Ir Edmund Kwong Ho Leung. Their guidance and confidence reinforced my resolve to serve the profession and the wider community with integrity and professionalism.

Throughout the election campaign, I had the valuable opportunity to engage with a wide range of stakeholders across the engineering sector. These exchanges allowed me to listen directly to frontline practitioners, consultants, contractors, and professionals from different disciplines, gaining a deeper understanding of the challenges, expectations, and aspirations of the industry. These conversations have further strengthened my belief that engineering expertise has an important role to play in public policy, urban governance, and community safety.

This journey would not have been possible without the unwavering dedication and collective efforts of my campaign team. Their professionalism, perseverance, and quiet commitment behind the scenes provided essential support at every stage of the campaign, for which I am profoundly thankful.

Following the election, my immediate focus has been on addressing pressing public safety concerns, particularly in light of the tragic fire incident at Wang Fuk Court in Tai Po. I am committed to approaching this issue in a systematic, professional, and evidence-based manner, drawing upon engineering principles and cross-disciplinary collaboration. Beyond addressing the immediate aftermath, my priority is to contribute to longer-term institutional improvements—examining building management practices, tendering mechanisms, and safety oversight frameworks—to help prevent similar incidents from recurring.
As I prepare to take up my legislative duties, I remain guided by a clear belief: engineering is not only about construction and infrastructure, but about safeguarding lives, protecting public interests, and building a sustainable future. I look forward to working with other LegCo members, professionals, and the community to translate professional knowledge into meaningful policy outcomes for Hong Kong.
