Core design & manufacturing innovation

At the heart of the series is a “Module Follows Function” approach, allowing CSIM to deliver a holistic, full-lifecycle service—from design and manufacturing to installation and operation.

  • Factory-controlled precision: By shifting critical quality control processes from unpredictable construction sites to highly controlled factory environments, the system ensures exceptional precision, stability, and ultimate hygiene standards.
  • Pre-equipped infrastructure: Each module combines standardised design with customised flexibility. Units arrive from the factory pre-equipped with advanced medical infrastructure, seamlessly integrating HEPA filters, medical gas outlets, and airtight clinical finishes directly into the structural modules.

Real-world applications & R&D excellence

Driven by rigorous research and development, the series demonstrates exceptional technological advancement, underscored by nearly twenty authorised patents held by CSIM across Mainland China and Hong Kong. The CSIM Modular Hospital Series has been successfully deployed in several major healthcare facilities (Fig. 2), including the North Lantau Hospital Hong Kong Infection Control Centre (HKICC) and the Kai Tak Quarantine Centre. Its flagship application is the Chinese Medicine Hospital of Hong Kong (CMHHK) and the Government Chinese Medicines Testing Institute (GCMTI), which notably stands as China’s first multistory permanent hospital constructed using MiC and lowcarbon technologies.

Operational efficiency & sustainability

This highly industrialised Modular Hospital Series effectively addresses critical industry bottlenecks, including acute labor shortages and the complexities of in-situ redevelopment, while offering substantial cost-saving potential:

  • Time & Labor Savings: The technology shortens the critical construction period and reduces peak onsite manpower, significantly enhancing construction safety, efficiency, and integrated management.
  • Environmental Impact: Championing sustainability, the series substantially lowers embodied carbon compared to conventional building methods through integrated low-carbon technologies.

Future impact & global vision

Ultimately, the CSIM Modular Hospital Series delivered a profoundly positive impact on both society and the engineering profession. By embracing a low-carbon economy, integrating digitalisation and AI robotics, and showcasing “New Quality Productive Forces,” it is actively attracting a new generation of young talent to tech-driven construction. This award-winning initiative successfully transforms a visionary concept into a permanent, life-saving reality, providing a blueprint for the modernisation of the global construction industry.
